Judgment Calls by Patrick Dunning

All my plans went into the crapper. I was planning on having this done long ago, but here I sit the night I'm supposed to have this done, frantically typing something again. I was going to say how kick ass the JSA has gotten, I really love it now and look forward to it every month.

The last story arc just kicked ass. Anyway times run short and I'll do that next month, besides I'd rather bitch anyway.

It had to happen, all geekdom knew it had to be too good to be true. The "Big Seven" back in the JLA, the reformation of the JSA with all the surviving old guys and the new guys carrying on the legacies, the formation of Young Justice, and the "Original Five" back in the Titans. It was great, the big names in those titles, DC would finally have some kickass teams to compete in sales against the X-men. All seemed right in the world. HOWEVER! This is no longer the case: Wally West, better known as The Flash, is no longer a member of the Titans. He's not the only one, Damage is gone, Starfire is gone, Cyborg is gone. Now itÂ’s just down to Nightwing, Troia, Arsenal, Tempest, Jesse Quick, and Argent. What everyone said would happen did. "They're putting Jesse in there to substitute for Flash" Back then, it was because everyone knew Flash was going to "die" again. Still. Wally's safe and sound and he has quit. Why? For the sole purpose of getting Jesse back on the team. It's bullshit.

I was a supporter of Devin Grayson, I always thought you could make this the book what everyone wants it to be, but you have gone and fucked that up. The whole thing about the reformation of the Titans was Dick (Robin I/ Nightwing), Donna (WonderGirl I / Troia), Roy (Speedy /Arsenal), Garth (Aqualad / Tempest) and Wally (Kid Flash / Flash III) were all going to be back. The Titans as they should be, but now that's screwed up. The reason why this book was so hyped was because they were going to be together, and now they aren't. All you are going to do is hurt sales. People who read The Flash would read Titans for Wally (being their fav character, perhaps,) but you think that if that was their only reason that Jesse is going to keep them there.

What I fear is that this trend will continue. I mean, Mark Waid vows to keep the Big Seven (plus Plastic Man) in the JLA, but really, could this signal the end of this age of how these teams books always should have been done? JSA's roster has also shrunk, Hourman is gone, Starman is gone, Atom Smasher is gone, Dr. Fate is gone. I respect Geoff Johns, and I must say his reasons for their leaving at least makes sense and it's not to get a less popular character into the books.

Anyway this has been my quick rant, getting back to school was harder than I thought. I will be back next month, if my editor doesn't kill me.
