Outerspace Spider Comics is an online comics publisher that we, the Collector Times Staff who were there, ran into at Uncommon Con. I ended up with an ashcan of their book, Halloween Man. If you want to check out Halloween Man go to their webpage at www.halloweenman.com.

Halloween Man is a book about a guy named Solomon Hitch, who gets superhero powers after being drained by a vampire and brought back to life by a mage. Halloween man is a cute mix of wit and of tributes to the horror greats. The little details like the vampire wearing a "Give Blood" button truly define the humor of the book. Solomon’s girlfriend Lucy, while she looks 1950’ish, is far from the shallow heroine. I think what really makes this book special is the fact that it plays jovially off of horror stereotypes and doesn’t parody itself in the process.

The art works magically with the story, giving it this wonderful coherency. In many ways it lampoons the old horror pulps, but at the same time maintains the pulp horror comic feeling. You should really go check it out for yourself.
