Toy Story by Mathew Bredfeldt

Toy Chest #10

First up, the ongoing saga with the Star Wars exclusive vehicles continues. There is a price update with the B-Wing Fighter that is going to be available at Target stores. It looks like the price is not going to be $50.00 like I first thought, but in fact is going to be $34.99 a big price break and with the ship’s large size and an exclusive figure, that price seems justified. Next up, is the Toys R US exclusive TIE Interceptor. It has in fact, been confirmed for sometime this summer. It will have an exclusive TIE Pilot (they say it's better than the original, but I can tell no differences from the pictures that I have seen), and it will have a blow apart action and a price tag of $29.99. Lastly, I have just learned that there will be for the first time ever, a TIE Bomber vehicle made. It looks like this will be a Wal-Mart exclusive. More information on this one as soon as it is available.

DC Direct's first major character for their action figure line is going to be out in November. This one is a two-pack of figures based on Superman and Lois Lane from the 1960's. They had to ask for special permission from Hasbro to do this two-pack since they hold the rights to the Batman and Superman licenses. Also on the slate for the future is a Green Arrow/Speedy two-pack that will have some of their trick arrows. Look for these two some time in December.

I do not know if I have covered this, but the other part of the Street Fighter line has been shown. Due to be out this Fall, look for Guile (along with the Ken and Ryu you have the three that everyone has played the most.), Dhalsim (I played him first when I played Street Fighter II), Dan (someone based on the SNK game `Art of Fighting') and Ibuki.

Dragon Ball Z will have a lot of releases this Summer. For their five inch line, look for four new series of figures. Series four will have Android 18, Android 17, Piccolo (named after a very expensive musical instrument), Goku and Vegeta. Series five will have Super Saiyan's Goku, Vegeta and Gohan; as well as a Teenage Trunks and Dr. Gero. Series Six has Super Saiyan Trunks in armor, Super Saiyan Goku, Android 16, Android 19 and Perfect Cell with Cell Jr. Series Seven has Spopovich, Great Saiyaman, Super Saiyan III Goku, Super Saiyan Gohan and Super Saiyan Gotenks. There will also be figures with an action feature, 9 and 12 inch figures as well as model kits (like those for Gundam).

Who whoo! Finally. the Buffy line with Cordelia is coming out. I never thought I'd find a replacement for my Willow figure in tight red pants, but I think we have a winner. Anyway, my raging hormones aside, there will be only one other figure in the line, and that is Xander. Xander will have an Ax, Tranquilizer Gun and two stakes. Cordelia will have a stake, handbag and a cell phone. If I can get my hands on two of them, my Tazz figure will finally have a valet to accompany him to the ring.

That's about all for this month. I'm headed to A-Kon at the beginning of the month so if you are going, I'll be there all three days. Hopefully, I'll have some cool finds to report on.
