It used to be that you could only get news regarding your favorite
comics by reading such publications as The Comics Journal, Amazing Heroes
or The Comic Buyers Guide. These days there are still the monthly publications
(or in the case of CBG, weekly) that offer interviews, previews and
information on who's going to be doing what, but by the time they see
print it's all old news. And why is that? Because, with the Internet,
you can find out all the same rumors, tidbits and previews that the
magazines offer, but on a daily basis.
If you're looking for news on anything even remotely about comics, then
Comic Geek.Ca is for you. This site
covers everything from which creators are doing what books, to who is feuding
with whom and why. Everything is laid out in tight little paragraphs which
give you the gist of the subject, along with a link that takes you to the
respected source if you wish to read the full story.
Newsrama is another
excellent source of comic industry news. This site is run by Mile High Comics,
so you know they have plenty of inside sources. While a lot of sites can
give you the same information, they don't always have the preview art that
Newsrama seems to have in abundance. What I like best about the site though,
are the message boards that are attached to each news story allowing readers,
and often the creators themselves, to respond immediately to the news.
Silver Bullet Comics
is another nicely put together site that offers news, interviews and reviews
of your favorite books. Like Newsrama, they have a nice message boards area
where readers can post their own opinions about the latest news and rumors.
And last, but in no way least, we have the infamous Ain't It Cool News.
This site is THE place to go for news, spoilers and rumors that other sites
haven't even heard of yet. Harry Knowles (the man behind the site) is famous
for having spies everywhere and he uses them to his full advantage. Whether
its comic books, movies or even television that interests you, this is one
site you will definitely want to bookmark.
