We picked up four issues of this book in San Diego this summer. After reading them, I really wish we’d picked up more of them. This a series about a girl named Jax who lives in New York ( as do the creators of the book), that goes through a dimensional portal and brings back things from the portal with her. It’s a brilliant mix of non-linear story telling and Alice in Wonderland.

Can you imagine a dragon flying the skies over New York City or a giant worm-like creature crawling around there? I know in light of current events this book might not be the best read right now, but it really is a good book. The issues I read were from 1997 and 1998, but they are still putting out new issues.

The art is very pretty and very detailed. It complements the Alice in Wonderland feeling of the book perfectly. The story jumps from Jax’s experiences with the portal, the other dimension, her trial for going to the other dimension when she wasn’t supposed to be there to the consequences in her normal universe for going into the other dimension.

It’s a wonderful book and it would work well as a book for people from the ages of preteen to adult. It’s a very versatile and well written book. I would definitely recommend it.
