Welcome to the July Edition of The Collector Times! Our cover comes courtesy of Jamie Coville, who attended Toronto ComiCon last month. Check out his con report!
For some reason, it was review month at the ole CT. Mat Bredfeldt provides us with comic reviews, Jesse Willey gives us trade paper back reviews and AJ Reardon added a couple of science fiction book reviews. Not to be outdone, Ian Melton gives us an overview of Sentai manga (NOT Hentai, sorry), which includes Transformers and a thoughtful essay on why old comics can be better than new comics. I don't know about you folks, but right now I am really enjoying a lot of DC comics. Not only do we have Paul Levitz back on the Legion of Superheroes, but we have the only Justice League I care about back. You know, that funny one, as opposed to all those serious heavy hitters one. I guess I just enjoy comics with fallible, relatable characters, as opposed to archetypes. I also enjoy some humor. I would have never imaged that Jamie, the new Blue Beetle and the old Booster Gold would be funny together, but they are. The last couple of months have made me feel like a 20 year old again, anxiously awaiting my comics shipment and my Legion fix. So thanks DC, for finally making it worth my while again! As always, we have a lot more stuff for you to read, and we are glad that you are here!
