Welcome to Collector Times.com

Welcome to the November Edition of The Collector Times!

Our cover comes to us courtesy of long time friend and CT reader koz.

I think his sons are so cute in their superhero costumes! We literally had hundreds of kids last night, and I think Paul's and my favorite was a shy 3 year old in a Batman suit. I don't know if it's the influence of movies and cartoons, but there were a lot of superhero costumes on boys and girls. It was heartening to see.

What do we have for you this month? Our gaming section returns with a review by AJ Reardon of Legend of the Five Rings Sourcebook 4th Edition. Rick Higginson provides us with a "how to" wear a kilt in his column The Eclectic Exegetist. Wally Flores Jr. provides us with a thought provoking article about the "Twilight" Superman in Graphic Content.

Wally's article got me to thinking about Superman in other mediums. I've watched the television show Smallville since the beginning, and I have no problem with the Smallville Universe being different from the DC Universe. If the TV show followed Superman continuity faithfully, it really would be boring, because I've read it before. Therefore, I have no problem following different continuities in different mediums. Smallville has been on television so long, that recently there was a poll on one of the entertainment sites asking who readers would like to see play Superman in the next movie. Overwhelmingly, the audience picked the actor who plays Superman on Smallville. Smallville is probably watched by some comic fans, but mostly what it has done is open up the Superman mythos to a whole new generation of young women. Perhaps this is the audience that DC is trying to lure over to the comics, considering this is the final season of Smallville. If they are successful, I suspect that the heterosexual fanboys will be yelling "Thank you, DC!"

Speaking of DC, they have reinstituted the fan voting for the leader of the Legion of Superheroes. Yes, much like election day in the US, make your vote count. You can vote through November 10, 2010 right here:

Anyway, we have other interesting things here for you to read. Take some time to look around. We're always glad that you are here!
