Welcome to Collector Times.com

Welcome to the October Edition of The Collector Times!

I am pleased to share with you a cover of Black Panther #13, a Marvel comic that is shipping at the end of October. Bob Almond, the inker, was gracious enough to send us a black and white preview.

The penciler of the book is Sal Velluto. This is a thumbnail picture, if you want to see a larger version of the art, please click on the image.

Black Panther

I, personally, haven't seen a Marvel comic with art this gorgeous since the early days of P. Craig Russell's work on Killraven. This is the first Marvel comic that is going on my personal pull list in 20 years, so enamored I am by this artwork. Is the story any good? Well, I'm waiting for the comic to find out, but if you would like to know, please read Sidra Robert's review of Black Panther #13 in The Alternate View. Speaking of Marvel, Jamie Coville interviews Mark Bagley, penciler of Thunderbolts about his art career at Marvel. Jason Bourgeois gives us his review of X Men: Children of the Atom in Great X-Pectations.

In honor of Halloween, Joe Singleton, in Artistic License, reworks the Bat Family for your viewing pleasure. Stephane Morrell graces us this month with a XipeTotec Rant on comicbook movies. And as usual, much much more, so take some time and look around. We are glad that you are here.

Because Halloween falls at the end of this month, let me share with you my now annual Halloween ritual. I give comics, as well as candy, to kids each Halloween. I now have the kids in the neighborhood trained, they know where the comic lady lives, and come by each year to get their book. It's very apparent to me that children still love comics, and I like to share my love of the medium with them. I get my comics from my collection, from local cons, and from the charity of my local comic shops. I am not above making the rounds of the local retailers and asking if they have appropriate comics either for sale cheap or for free. Some retailers have appropriate comics that they would heave in the trash otherwise, and all one has to do is ask. This is my annual mission, to expose children to the joys of reading comics. I hope that you will consider doing this also for your Halloween celebration this year.
